Door, CL, 500

2004 Cl 500 driver side door ; soft release will open 2" but door jams at the hinges. Problem happened 3 years ago before and cured itself within 10 days.
Problem resurfaced again. On both occasions car was in the care of third party, valet parking and mechanic.
Occurs to me more like a body issue and less a mechanical issue
any one?

There is a safety catch in the door mechanism which sometimes doesn't release correctly if it isn't well lubricated and so prevents the door from opening properly.

The solution is very simple: lubricate the affected catch and its spring with spray-on lithium grease and check that it rotates freely. While you're at it, lubricate the other hinge components too.

The catch is arrowed in the attached pic.
