DPF s can be cleaned but you need to find out why it has not re-generated. Do you have a local MB specialist who can run a Star diagnostic?

No I don't

"DPF should not be replaced or cleaned solely on the basis of a code. The load percentage and ash content should be monitored in DAS or equivalent to confirm the state of the filter.

The OM642 pressure differential sensor is notorious for becoming water soaked from condensation and cause those reading to be skewed. My suggestion would be to remove the sensor and shake it to see if its filled with water and replace if it is."

Do not know if this would be applicable to your engine, something to consider looking into.

i have a DPF problem too, so any help / advice would be most welcome. Car is a 2010 E Class w212, OM651 engine, and it's driving like a dream...no smoking engine mis-firing etc and not showing any fault codes . The first thing that drew my attention to the DPF was a rise in the oil level in the sump. I tried to get it to re-gen by driving it for about 20 Miles in 3rd gear @3'000 RPM. But that does not seem to have worked.. Today, I ran an iCarsoft scan on it, and the result's can be seen in the pic's. Is there some one who can interpret these scans, and put them in lay mans language? I'm very open to suggestion's as to the best course of action to take now. Remove the DPF, and have it professionally cleaned? Investigate why a 20 mile "hot" run did not trigger a regen? Any other suggestions?

FWIW....

If your getting fuel into your crank case, the first thing to do is change the oil and oil filter. Fuel mixed with your oil will shorten / damage an engine.

Then figure out why fuel is entering the crank case.

Before you clean the DPF check the pressure differential sensor, this sensor generates the single to re-generate the DPF.

That's already in the pipeline....ordered 20 ltrs MB Engine oil, from mercedesbenzofnewcastle, expect to receive it tomorrow, so oil / filter change will be done when it arrives. Aside from running a scan before changing the pressure differential sensor, and running one after a new one had been fitted, is there any other way to do a test? Is there a "range" of reading's ranging from "Normal" to out of range? In my Merc the scan read's for " Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor" the value is 1.10 BAR, and for the " DPF Differential Pressure Sensor" the value is 0.01 BAR. But I don't have anything to compare these figures with, so I don't know if they are within normal range or not....:wallbash:

If you have access to WIS.

Have you reviewed the repair procedures in WIS?

As sometimes there are notes.

You have access to a scanner that can force a DPF regeneration?

No, I did not think about WIS, That's a very good idea,,,will do that. The OBD scanner I have is the iCarsoft V11 MB, and that does not have the capabilities to force a regen. the thing is, after I bought my iCarsoft, 5 /6 days later, they introduced the newer upgraded version the iCarsoft MB V 2.....:wallbash: But anyway, I thats life....

Can the iCarsoft software be upgraded by mfg.?

No, unfortunately not the MB V11, but the newer model, the MB V2, has that function ( but I read some where that it will not regen the w212, how true this is I don't know ) I can check with some of my friends if they have a regen capable OBD scanner though, I might get lucky.....

Hi Josephm
Hereunder is a copy of the last update I received from iCarsoft, nearly a year ago. I have emailed them, requesting the latest updates, so now I wait for their reply.
