I've recently purchased a 56 plate (facelift) e220 and the oil level on dipstick is a little low. However I can not tell if it has a DPF or not I've tried ringing mercedes today 3 times and have just got the voicemail. Is there a website or anything I can find out from if I enter my vin num or reg? Thanks in advance

Dipstick?kinda unusual that your car has one of those!
Should be a sticker on the slam panel warning to only use low ash oil.
Although they don't always have them. If you've got a service book check that.it should state which type of oil was used at last m.b. service

Look for SA code 474 on the data card means dpf fitted.

And the oil code will end in .51, not just .5

I know I thought it was strange about the dipstick. Even the 51 plate c class previous to this had the in dash oil level check. Anyway I've found out now from looking back on service history. Found an old receipt for 5w30 oil. I think that means I have a DPF I'll get that double checked but at least I know which oil to use!

The old receipt doesn't prove that 5w30 is the correct oil.

True it doesn't actually mean its the right oil but its a point in the right direction. 5w30 doesn't mean it has a DPF for sure but it suggests that I do. thanks for the link to the MB website i'm now registered on there and although it has quite a bit of info on my car it doesn't tell me if it has a DPF.
As for Data Cards? how do i obtain one for my car? Does anyone have a link to a site?
Jason

why the concern if you have dpf at least you guys can hand over some coin to a garage and get the bloody thing deleted and removed legally without a prison sentence

5W30 is a viscosity rating and has nothing to do with DPFs. It's the end of the MB approval code that matters: 229.3 or 229.5 are for non-DPF cars, 229.31 and 229.51 must be used for DPF vehicles but can be used on all.

Post your VIN here and we can tell you for certain. A UK-market 56-plate E220CDI won't have one, though.

Have you thought about ringing or popping into your local MB Dealer and asking which is the correct oil. Have your VIN number to hand if you do, but they may just need the registration number.

Edit: I see Troon has checked and answered your query. :thumb:
