Mercedes E280
Hi. I've just recently bought a 2006 Merc E280 3.0 V6. Having a few issuses with the DPF. When Im accelerating from stand still and give the car some throtle it starts to judder and on some occassions goes into limp mode. When I turn the car off and fire it up again the problem goes.

It seems to happen when the car is cold, but recently its started doing it when the engine is warm. I've had the codes read and its is coming up with a fault but no engine management light. Now I don't do many motorway miles and I've been told the car needs to be put through its paces so the filter doesnt clog up.

Because I do a lot local driving (short journeys) is it worth having the DPF removed altogether to eliminate this problem. I dont really fancy paying £1100 for a new DPF fitted.

Was wandering if any one else has had this problem and how you rectified it.

I look forward to any help I can get. THANKS

You need to get it on a star diag at a good independent that knows the systems and can read the live values.
It may not be the dpf at fault.

Short journeys....DPF's......fatal mix. If you can find somebody experienced in removing DPF's from Mercedes then it may be worth investigating.

May not be neccesary to remove dpf. As already mentioned get star diagnosis. I drive 4 x 2 miles daily with no problems.worth checking that low ash oil has been used( halfords do an oil service for a very good price. Just watch to make sure they use correct oil!)
Wrong spec engine oil blocks the dpf causing re-gen cycles (noticeable as fuel consumption rises steeply)and will eventually trigger check engine light and cause safe mode.
Don't panic or spend heaps of cash till you've had it checked out properly.

It's extremely unlikely a 2006 E280cdi will have a DPF.

Moneys on another but probably familiar fault to here. The seized inlet port shut off motor or the flap mechanism jamming.

As per ***'s post, it's very unlikely that it has a DPF - they weren't fitted as standard to that model and if you wanted one, it had to be specified as an extra on first purchase. Get it checked properly on a STAR machine.

Ok guys. Thanks for your advice. I'm gonna get the car hooked up on to STAR machine and see what faults I'm getting. I'll post my findings. Cheers
