Sprinter 4x4
Hi, not sure if I'm in the right spot but some guidance would be appreciated if I'm not.
I have a 2015 Sprinter 313 LWB with 280k km on the clock. It's giving a loud dry whine noise while accelerating in low gears. Lift the pedal noise goes, clutch in, noise goes.
Left into main dealer and they were convinced it was the carrier bearing, replaced it, no joy at all, still exactly the same. They now tell me its the gear box needs replacing at €4,500 plus labour!!
Any ideas ?

From your description, it does sound like a gearbox problem rather than the clutch, sorry to say.

I would have thought an Independent gear box company could fix it rather than replacing the box.

Good luck!

Go careful, could also be like the turbo bearings squealing.

You say that you have a 2015 Sprinter 313 LWB but your signature says sprinter 4x4?? If your van is 4x4 then in addition to the main gearbox you will have a transfer box /centre differential /front propshaft to consider also. The following 2016 video would appear to indicate the 4wd system is similar in layout to that of the ML system running down the left side of the engine block as seen from the drivers seat.1min 55secs into the video
