I'm dynamic seats have stopped working so I read the codes which indicate a fault with the air pump.

I believe this is located somewhere in the boot but not pulled any covers off yet.

Has anyone worked on this before on a 212 estate and can provide any insight?

Thanks

If it's located in a similar location to the saloon, it'll be on the left-hand side just aft of the wheel arch.

Thanks.i will have a look and find out when I get a minute.

Have you had to work on/ replace one at some point?

When I bought my second E63 (ex-dem, 800 miles on the odo) from a main dealer I noted on the test drive that the dynamic seats weren't working. They agreed to fix them prior to delivery, and then spent several days trying to diagnose the fault before eventually replacing all the pipework. They then worked faultlessly for the three years I owned the car.

So in answer to your question, although I didn't do the work, I have experienced the system requiring work. Hope yours turns out to be a simple fault.

I hope so too but I think it's unlikely. My feeling is knackered pump but that might be because it was working too hard die to a leak, not sure. It was working fine then stopped suddenly and hasn't worked since. Cleared codes and they immediately reappear. Difficulty I fear might be finding a replacement for a reasonable price

Well i found the pump in the expected location. Passenger side behind the rear arch and behind some module relating to the command/entertainment setup. Not sure exactly what but looks like it's got fibre to it and anyway it has to move to get to the pump.

Now I've got it in hand there doesn't appear to be anything obviously wrong with it which is almost a shame because not sure exactly what to do next lol.

I will try to find the fuse location to check it had power and see if I can check it works maybe with a 12v supply

Fuse is in the rear box on the other side of the boot. It's f60 30amp.

Mine isn't blown.

I think there is a pressure sensor that calls for air when required and fills a small vessel.

My only fault code related to the pump and no indication of pressure issue or leaks but unsure.

Oh and the thing that it's behind is the stereo amplifier afaik

Just as a follow up for future reference...

Today I fitted a salvaged pump for my dynamic seats. I've been checking eBay on and off but not desperately.

Anyway everything is currently back up and running. I was sceptical about a replacement because the original I removed had no obvious defect. I will monitor it's operation now and check it's not throwing any more codes for leaks etc.

There are several different air pumps so make sure you get the right one. There were a number of different upgrades made over time to resolve an issue with pump overheating and melting the air connections. My car is a pre facelift 62 plate eye and the part numbers on the pump are A0008005648 and A0008005748
