I’m considering upgrading my prefacelift W211 command headunit. I want better smart phone integaration (Apple iPhone) and also want to be able to add an aftermarket amp to power a separate subwoofer, with the option to be able to add another amp and run some high quality component speakers a bit later.
Now I was looking at the Dynavin N7-MBE Pro. It has all the options I like, including the instrument cluster clock sync and 3x 4v pre-outs for external amps. BUT, on speaking to them via email, I was told very briefly that if I have to use their MOST adaptor, that the pre-outs then don’t work and I won’t be able to add a subwoofer!

Dynavin we’re very vague in their replies. I sent them a few questions, but they ignored all of them and just replied with” It’s not possible to add a subwoofer”. Not sure if it’s a language barrier perhaps, but I replied and stated my intentions and they said if using our MOST adaptor for the audio gateway, that the subwoofer output won’t work.

Surely that can’t be right? And if so, it’s a pretty big design floor!

Integration into the W211 just seems like it’ll be hard work with another brand and not having a fully functioning clock in the instrument cluster will bug me a bit.

I couldn't see the processor or RAM spec.
Anyways, it's Chinese and you have a choice of those in 7 & 8" for the 211.
There is a 9" that also replaces some of the lower trim, but haven't seen those in octo core and 4 gig RAM yet.

Edit:
I replaced the 2nd link for one with DSP.
If you look around you should find one from the UK, things can get more complicated with international deliveries.

I don’t think they quote the actual internals of the unit. They have their own operating system and is the best solution for plug and play compatibility. However the MOST adaptor rendering the subwoofer line out unusable, really puts me off. I don’t particularly want to have to rewire the whole system to make the door speakers work. Plus, I believe the speakers have awkward impedance levels, meaning amplifying them is even more difficult.
The Android units you’ve listed, although will work, also means you loose front to back fade with the RCA style MOST adaptor it’ll need, as it sums all channels into 2 left and right only. There’s no 4 channel MOST adaptors out there it seems!
I’m almost wondering if it’s worth sticking with the big brands, Pioneer, Kenwood etc and having to do what I don’t want to and rewire the whole thing with an external 4 channel amp, and add my own speakers. But that’s not a 5 min job!

Why are these sound systems so bloody hard to upgrade! 🙄

Speak to @Alfie of COMMAND Systems. Well respected member of this forum and certainly expert in car audio.

They are...but worth it. I dumped the lot and went with a new amp etc...just had to bring speaker connections etc to the front of the car.

If it's worth doing...then take another 10 minutes doing it.

Dynavin aren't using anything other than Chinese mass produced kit as far as I'm aware.

From your description it sounds like you have a separate amp set up??
I don't have experience of these but know the Chinese links I put up will cater for pre amp outputs, to a sub also if that can take a 2 wire feed.

They are plug and play and i'm pretty sure will use the same hardware as the Dynavin. Dynavin just create more attractive promo, and as you say poor customer support. I attempted to deal with them, vui the register to use website. Waste of time.

Are your speaker impedances different to other MB's w/o amps? I have never had a problem with matching up.
Mine have all had front rear fade.

In my 211 I found 2 of the 4 speakers were shot. I replaced all with Bose CH6CK, 6.5" 4 ohm. I had to cut and shape the original speaker frames but all went in well. Sounds good and using original frames fits well.

I have a separate amp for a subwoofer, which I would like to integrate. I also have a pair of 6.5” comps that I will get round to installing up front at some point, but ideally they need a separate amp themselves due to high power rating. I don’t have a full range amp for the components yet though.
For now, I’d like a new headunit that will be easy to install without too much faffing about and will allow me to use my sub and amp and give me the possibility of adding front and rear speakers with their separate amps.

In a Vito/ Viano I can have one of these in and working within 15 minutes.
The 211 is a little more involved with the dash trim and trays to pull out.

Reverse cams, dash cams and such can be added to suit later. The GPS antenna gets confused if sat within the dash as I would site it in a Viano. So in the 211 I brought mine out in front of the allot mesh on top.

As I see it the only thing Dynavin vin do differently or better is to take more money.

Both links are easy install.

I’ve seen one a lot cheaper than their RRP price, so it’s not too bad. However, if the cheaper units will do everything and install easy enough, then maybe it’s worth taking a punt. If the unit is cheaper overall, then maybe I will splash out on a nice 4 channel amp and some new speakers for the rear as well and go for the full install option.
I don’t mind fitting them, it’s just finding the time these days!

Bought from UK, via eBay, it gets returned if not up to scratch. No punt.

Since the 1st link looks identical to Dynavin, expect Dynavin don't like to tell you the spec, and I haven't seen better than octo core with 4 gig ram, I'm not seeing what more you would expect from Dynavin.

Btw there are identical ,looking units with a lower spec on eBay. As I expect Dynavin to supply. Slow and more likely to fall over when running multiple apps I would expect disappointment.

All Chinese kit can be something of a punt. When installed it wants extended testing. I had one do strange things to the canbus when warmed up, after driving for over an hour. It went back.

Reckon it’s worth having a go with one of the cheaper units like you posted. Although I fear that by bypassing the AGW amp with the extra extension loom and then running off of the Android units built in amp, that I will under power the standard speakers and loose sound quality.
With that in mind, I’m tempted to order a cheap(ish) Pioneer 4 Channel amp and fit my relatively expensive 6.5” comps up front. That way, I can set up a high pass filter on the pioneer amp for the mids, so that I can let my sub deal with the low end.
