E Class Convertible Roof Leak A207 200 CGI 2010

Please help!

My wife's A207 200 CGI convertible 2010 has a roof leak on the passenger side upper front join.
We have properly cleared all the drain holes, checked all seals, had two Mercedes specialist try to repair, but no success.
Mercedes specialist's say the seals are good?

Water will not come in when flooded/sprayed with a hose so no leak is apparent.

Water only gushes in through the folding gap in the passenger side top rail when driven off in the morning after a rain night.
The red leather seat is now showing green mould.
Water can be heard in the roof sloshing around as the car is driven off in the morning?
Its as though a few litres of water collects inside the roof overnight but does not drain away, this then gushes in through the folding join upon acceleration or braking.

The seals seem to be in perfect condition and I have cleared all drains with an airline and brush cutter cord.

Not sure what to try next?

Have you tried a decent water repellent for the canvas?

Only turtle wax conditioner and cleaner.

Do you think water is seeping throgh and collecting inside the frame rails?
I heard that a tent product works good?

I will try a water proofing agent, what brand is the best?

Renovo has a good reputation and I've used it for years; depends what colour roof you have as it's only available in a few colours.

I used Renovo on the car this year but will be using Gtechniq l1v2 from next year on. We use Gtechniq on the boat canvas and it performs, in my opinion, far better than Renovo.

Renovo soft top proofer is a clear liquid so can be used on any colour. Only the reviver is coloured.

Had similar on my CLK - had the hood cleaned and reproofed back in June and it's been fine throughout this miserable summer we've had!

Thanks, I will proof this with the best water proofing agent available and re-test.

what puzzles me is that It was universally understood that double-duck canvas was naturally fully 100% waterproof?

Now waiting for a dose of torrential rain.

Fabsil Gold is wonderful stuff, I gave it three coats.

What is puzzling is that the original high quality Sonnenland fabric is supposed to be impermeable and last up to 20 years?
Maybe over time and use the rubber lining does become compromised?

Have to say put 3 coats of Fabsil on my cars roof and even after the storms and heavy rain we have had. Thank you forum for the excellent advice

You can actually buy MB roof proof spray in the dealerships which is weird when you read the sonnenland blurb

After all the storms that we have had not one drop of water on my seat after applying 3 coats of Fabsil. Thanks forum for the excellent advice
