E200 cdi 2003

Hello, has an E200 CDI 2003.

The multifunction steering wheel function is normal except that it looks like it has any form of communication to CD / Radio and Navigation.
*
I can see the instrument panel that it does not look that navigation and radio is turned on.
*
So the steering wheel buttons work but not against cd / radio.
*
and all the lights in buttons around CD / Radio dose not lights either. while light on all other buttons in the car are lighting as normal.
*
Seems like it might be something with any cabel behind cd player, can i be right??

Is the radio the one Mercedes fitted at the factory?

If it is, it does indeed sound like a cable has fallen out behind the radio.

Yes it is a factory fitted one.

Cd / Radio player works fine, just the multifunctional buttons on steering wheel dosnt communicat with it.

Could you post a picture of the radio, it may help identify the problem.

Taking a wild guess, I'd say the 'C' connector has fallen out or hasn't been replaced properly. This has the CANBUS signals, a digital signalling and data system which has all sorts of uses in the car, one of which is the steering wheel controls and another one tells the radio to turn on its lights.

Pop down and see Alfie at comand.co.uk in lightwater. This is some CAN communication failure between cluster and the stereo - but there are quite a few things to check
