Our Qashqai+2 1.5DCI has a modest superchips / Bluefin remap on it and all is good (108 to 130bhp is quoted)

I occasionally drop onto their website to see what's going on and fell across an article from this summer where they have remapped the petrol E200.
As most of the remaps discussed here are of the diesel E classes, I thought I would highlight this

They quote a significant uplift (over 30% power bhp and torque) albeit where it ends up is only where many 2.0T engines are these days (and indeed my stage 1 Saab was)

It would be a significant change to the drivability of the car, so I wondered if anyone had one on theirs?
Or had a comment about a 30% increase on this engine - as a stock stage one remap, that is a fair increase for all other components to deal with?

The E200 is quite good value compared to other E classes and this remap would / should make up for some of that models shortcomings......

Is this the M271 engine? If so, then I did look it at the time, but the consensus on the Internet was that chip tuning for the M271 don't really work.... I struggled to find someone who actually did it and was happy with the result. Said that, it was the Kompressor engine, things may different for the Turbocharged CGI.

Not sure of the engine itself, someone will step up and advise no doubt, but whilst this lot may have stuck with the name from the early 'chipping' days, I can only confirm that their product is a remap these days - indeed they updated their map for my Renault / Nissan diesel engine after it went in for a recall update (diesel gate we all suspected) - applied using their bluefin device

On a general note, diesel engines are much more responsive to tuning (chip or remap) than petrol engines, especially the smaller petrol engines that are already stressed.

But you can see that I am a sceptic... so best let someone else have a view on this :)

This is true, but my 5 years in the Saab community did open the eyes to what a decent map on a decent 2.0t, 2.0T, 2.3T or even the 2.8T could do (and the engine be reliable with)
My 'noob' map transformed by Saab Aero that went from 210 to 'over' 250 (plus 300 to over 360NM) based on dyno tests of others (though it could 'test' the clutch on a dry road and drinking 'super')

The 184 quoted on the stock MB engine is quite conservative so I would guess that it needs a decent map to open it up
Lets see what others contribute and comment with....

Interestingly the E200 Petrol version of the new E class is no longer listed on the MB UK website.:( However perusal of the W205 Class technical spec reveals a C 200 2 litre 1991cc petrol engined version at 184hp @ 5,500 and 300Nm @ 1,200-4,000------and what I assume is the same basic engine in the C class 350E Hybrid is listed at 211hp@ 5,500 and 350Nm@ 1,200-4,000 ;) Now this could be a factory remap or possibly larger turbo/more boost / bigger injectors--- that said it might indicate that MB reckon the basic engine structure is capable of such a power increase. :D

The 1.8L M271 and 2.0L M274 petrol engines are offered in the US with higher outputs, but I am assuming this involves factory-fitted 'hardware' modifications e.g. lower compression ratio and higher turbo boost etc. I am just not convinced that these engines can produce significantly higher power and torque figures by remapping alone.

The power hike is probably necessary in the US / Canada given their fuel & Octane ratings

The 3.6L Jeep I hired this summer was painfully poor on the powwwwaaar dept, even for a Jeep when drinking their petrol.
