Have upset the hire car company very much insisted on an automatic and they rang and asked if I'd take a manual today and I said no way - got the manky Vectra Diesel last time - so come home to an E200 Kompressor :D

Is there anything I should know? Has one of those funny keys with no key affairs

Keyless go ?? :D How is it different to your key ?

S.

I have a metal blade - stick it in the ignition barrel - turn, start and go :D

No DAS Keys on the SLK ? I never knew that !! Is your SLK key one of those flippy ones like you get with the A Class ?

S.

My dad's early SLK had a flip key but the newer one has a normal "plug it in" type key I think.
How old is your SLK Pammy?

SLKs have always (even the new ones in the showroom) had the flip key .. like the A Class.

Marcos - the clues in my sig ;) July 2003 :D AFAIK - all SLK's have the blade key.

So enough of SLK keys :D - anything about this E200? How does a no key key work  I presume there's in anfrared doobery to point it at?

Haven't looked at it tonight - as they parked it on the road - and I've been out from work for a few glasses of lemonade  so thought I should leave it 'til tom's :D

PS - no leather :(

Just plug it in ; same place as you would put your blade key . . . wait for the electronic "click" as your steering column unlocks, and then just turn it as far as it will go, and release immediately - the engine will just turn for as long as it takes to fire up . . no further user input needed :D

Cool - feet up and wait to arrive in Lytham then :D :D Thanks S ;)

Forgot to mention . . You'll find it does have a blade key incorporated in the side of the housing , which slides out, (emergency unlocking purposes!!) but for goodness sake dont try and stick that in the igntion socket !!

Pammy,

I stand corrected. I just checked with him as well and got called a stupid boy as I drive it quite often. :o :o

S'ok - you can be an honororay blonde for a time :D :D

i had an e200 komp as a hire car for a day.... found out that if you go over a sleeping policeman at 80mph the suspension makes a funny bang noise...

otherwise normal - key thing has a chip built into it that communicates with the barrel via a little window - as noted above, just treat like a normal key - cept its plastic.. ;)

Just don't go thinking its as quick as your slk when over taking etc! And don't forget its a tad bigger when parking :)

Thanks for that Richard - I've had a quick squint and noticed no Parktronic or similar - so WILL have to be careful ;) Will have to go in forwards and use that funny star thing on the bonnet as a guide ;)
