E220 CDI '02 Satnav and TV

Hey

I'be bought a E220 CDI estate with sat nav and must say that I'm delighted with it. Any how, when I enter a post code into the sat nav, the system says that it has an error with the CD rom or some thing. Do I need to just up date tge cd rom? Or is there more to it?

Also, the TV doesn't work... I'm not too bothered, but my son would quite like to watch his telly tubbies from time to time. Any ideas?

You can only enter the first part of the post code

You do have a disc in there ? what happens if you drive and press MAP.

The car must have a TV tuner fitted,,if you push the button and it says No TV then you do not have one

Thanks Malcom. Weell, I found the town and street name I wanted.. it then says its plotting a route,then it will go on to say it can't plot route.. ,however, it will show my the finish 'flag' on the map.. after it gives a cd rom error msg! There is a cd in there.. but not sure what.. just a blank white cd...? Any ideas? Shall I buy a new cd rom? Where would I get it?

Buy a new CD, not a copy - comand is *much* happier with original disks - and it saves been let down when you are completely lost somewhere

For instance from http://www.comandonline.co.uk/home.php?cat=253

- you have the choice of
basic disk
basic disk + MRWE (european major roads disk, good if going to spain, as you dont need to bother with full map disk for france)
basic disk + ITIS TMC - gives some traffic redirection when traffic is busy

Or you can go to Mercedes dealer and get an older version of the map with michelin guide in for £237 :-(

(Ive presumed your car is a W210, if it is in fact the latest shape (W211) then you need a DVD and its in the boot)

My merc is E220 CDI estate, on an 02 plate. Its then slightly revised version.. the one tha thas the smaller indicators inthewing mirrors. What model is that..?

Aplogies, but after years of Audi's, I'm new to Mercedes ..

It could be the 210 or 211 Look at the bottom of the windscreen passenger side you have you vin number WDB21¤¤¤¤¤¤

that is the number that we use

That number should be used when asking questions as it simplifies the answer the chances are the next 3 numbers are 606 and for very technical queries then ask using 210606

Why 606 ? - I thought 2xx is the estate. Dunno what 6xx is (possibly GUARD, or the extended wheelbase thing for hearses ?)

But the point about the next 3 digits being useful is very true.

I have to work it out, otherwise I would spend half my time asking, the 606 was the last 220CDI on the list and the car is one of the last 210's made the gent has an estate car and the 210606 is an estate car.
