Car
Mercedes benz E240 2.6 V6
I have a Mercedes benz E240 2.6 v6, it sat for 18 months, when I jumped started it, it ran for 15 mins, then died on me, when putting foot on accelerator it takes a while for the car to respond.
The car is a 2003, only has 67,500 miles on the clock, the battery is needing replaced as not taking a charge.
I suppose dirty fuel may be a part.
Any suggestions?

Why would fuel suddenly become "dirty"? If it started after sitting for 18 months then the fuel doesn't sound like the problem.

Is the Alternator providing a charge? It should provide around 14V or more if working correctly.
Taking the car to a Mercedes Independent garage would be a good starting point as they can run proper diagnostic tests.

Cam or crank position sensor.....they often only fail after warming up. Any codes?

I’d also suggest Crank Position Sensor (CPS). I had the same symptoms on a W203 (albeit with a different engine) and the replacement CPS cured it.

Before you start guessing and throwing money at it renew the battery.
If the problem is till present get the codes using MB STAR diagnostics.

When the car is running it shows 14v, I've disconnected both batteries, and put them on charge, stop charging at 7.6v, so batteries are done.

I will have to buy a diagnostic tool, it says on the dash, to go to a garage, but I'm sure it probably just needs reset, its says brakes faulty etc but new brakes and pad were put on it at 64000, and only 67500 on it now

The car did need driven every other day before, as something was draining the battery

If the batteries are shot then you will get all sorts of strange error messages because control units (aka computers) hate unstable or low voltages. Don't throw any money at it until you solve the battery issue because you will end up chasing your tail with spurious errors.
