Hi everyone,

New to the forum but have done a bit of browsing and searching.

I noticed a blowing coming from my exhaust a week ago. Finally managed to get under the car to try and find out where from exactly. Its coming from a flex pipe forward of center. To my totally novice eye it looks like I might be able to cut the flex out and replace it with a clamp in version. However my Google-Fu has come up short. For the life of my I can not find any reference in parts catalogs, diagrams or service manuals to this flex pipe. Does anyone know if its an original part or does it look like the exhaust has already been repaired with a weld in flex pipe.

I've done various work on bikes and simpler cars before be never had to work on something like this so I am just trying to make sure I have everything straight in my head before tackling it, messing it up and paying someone to sort it.

Thanks guys

Split flexes are common. The whole pipe from Mercedes might not be as expensive as you think…
Alternatively BM Catalysts can supply a replacement flex that you can weld in, if you are handy. My advice is to buy their double-walled version. It’s much longer lasting and doesn’t whistle like some cheap eBay ones do.

Thanks for the info. I'll check them out. Bonus that they're only 20 mins up the road from me.
