e300 diesel immobilser

on our 1996 e300 diesel 210 series the immobiliser is becoming a nightmare in that sometimes we have to turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times to get the glow plug light to light up while driving the other day the car just stalled at 30 mph i stopped and just started it up again no problem if you try to start the car sometimes it just turns over but very fast leading me to believe the immobiliser is faulty is there any way i can just take all the immobiliser off as this is a taxi used in the centre of york it has always been a pain while moving up position on a taxi rank i have to set the immobiliser then unset it every time i want to move up i would just like to cut it all off i used to love my 124 e300 diesel same engine no immobiler i hope someone can help me thank you

The ignition switches also fail on these cars, is your key the metal flip out one

Sorry for delay,, yes it just confirms what I was saying and it is or should be the electrical part of the ignition switch thats at fault

Very easy to check out with a voltmeter

does the electrical part of the ignition switch need to be soldered in or is it just a multi plug
