E300 Td thermostat

I am needing to replace the cooling system thermostat on my motor,am i right in thinking that it is located on cylinder block where bottom radiator hose connects to..George..

It's under the domed cap on the waterpump where the rad hose joins. Two star bolts iirc. A new thermostat comes with it's own seal. £19.00

That from Mercedes Edinburgh 6 days ago. Less discount + vat. Part number for my engine...A602 200 00 15...but you should check that against your Vin for your slightly later car.

Oh i have just thought it will dump all the new antifreeze i put in 2 weeks ago dammit, why didnt they put it up top like most cars..George..

if the thermostat is at top of engine you will only lose a little.

why didnt they put it up top like most cars.

To reduce the likelihood of an air lock in the cylinder head.
