E500 buying advice..

I am considering purchasing a 2003-2005 E500.

I know very little about the cars but what sort of things should I be looking at before commiting to buying one? Found a couple with the AMG kit and they look lovely...

Are the engines bullet proof>

Any guidance is appreciated.

The engines are one of MB's finest, especially in the supercharged form. But yes, engines very reliable.
There is a buyers guide for the 500/55 which covers both cars. I'll see if I can find it.

Although the above link refers to an E55, most things apply to an E500 as well except the supercharger and intercooler pointers.
