Have you actually spoken with him? (I haven't, but it would be interesting to hear how he comes across in person; I agree the ad could be better). If I needed a seven-seater, I'd have gone to see it, and might well have been among the bidders, E500 or no E500.

Appears to be unsold, as it didn't reach reserve.

Given that he's done 4,000 miles this year and 8,000 miles last year, it doesn't "sound" like he has used it as "infrequently" as he describes. Sounds more like a typical weekend / family car.

It's a bit weird that he hasn't re-MoT'd the car given that the MoT only has two weeks to run before it runs out on the 24th Feb.

Who tries to sell a call without a fresh 12 month MoT ? Is it because the two rear tyres were close to their legal limit 12 months ago, and he's done 4,000 miles but still hasn't spent £400 on replacing them?

I haven't, i sent him a polite question asking what bodywork was done, and that i was interested.

His response was: NONE.... ?? i mean if he cant be bothered to reply with a sentence, like thankyou for the interest the car has had this that and the other, that would have fine.

He comes across lazy and not interested, perhaps thats how he treats his cars?? Im not wasting my time going to see it, It's been for sale for ages and no wonder.

That's plain bad manners on the face of it.

I don't think the ad wording has changed in all the time it has been for sale. He's either a very busy man, or a rather odd fellow (there's nowt so queer as fowk...), or doesn't really want to sell it. If I were interested, I'd start by contacting the garage that has been servicing it to see if they could tell me anything about either the car or the owner.

Advert looks very adversarial to me, never a good sign...
