Evening all. Does anyone have any advice or experience with 5.5 biturbo tuning?
I brought a new e63 in 2013 and specified an lsd which was great. I've just purchased a 2015 car but it hasn't got an lsd and i am considering an aftermarket one from MSl. Not sure if it's in my head but my 2013 car seemed more controlled under power with the traction control on or off.
I'm also considering a stage 2. My problem is the cost of it all and is it worth it? Although individually very reasonably priced from MSL it all adds up to just shy of 4k.
I am worried if i get all of that extra horsepower it's going to be useless without having an lsd fitted.
Massive jump from stage 1 to stage 2 in cost, is it worth it for an extra 20 bhp? The better sound of the stage 2 with the downpipes is appealing but again is it worth the exta cost?
Help!!!

Is it worth the extra money......of course it is......use some man maths and all will become clear.
The lsd will help a lot especially on greasy and damp roads and in the dry will help keep you in a straight line.
The 5.5 with down pipes sound lovely so it’s worth it just for the noise

If you’re worried about costs and value for money, leave it alone or save up for a newer and stronger car.

Modding is never cheap, never predictable, will never be good enough (for long anyway) and will always cost more than planned.

LSD is all you need to enjoy the car. A stage one remap is relatively cheap if you want more power. Whilst downpipes sound epic they can be a bit much if it's a family car and you lose some of the stealth of an E63.

LSD was on of the best mods I did to my previous car E39 M5.
Getting it done on the E63 the minute I get it back from Lookers Gatwick

LSD was the first mod I did on my old W212 E63 and one of the better ones.

It sort of went downhill from there and spiralled out of control really. Worth it in the end though. Incidentally the downpipes, as well as increasing the noise, increase the torque substantially.

A friend has the bi-turbo 55 engine in his E class and has had GAD do a stage one tune with a decat (I think) and remap and is getting c700bhp and 800 foot pounds of torque from memory. He has also had a Quaife fitted and was happy for about 6 weeks...............he is now talking about bespoke turbo upgrades, transmission upgrades and a few others things that will kill his wallet.

As stated above it is a slippery slope :D

Beware bent conrods. See this thread for why I wouldn't even think about it. It's Not A Good Sign When...

In fact, I won't have another M157 engine, just in case.

I'm 99% sure it will be fine. Keeep your fingers crossed when you give it the beans, just in case...

Fingers crossed!!!
Even if things start to go wrong it's going to cost me considerably less than the new E63 cost me in 2013!!
