E63S low 'trade' value?

I've been enjoying my GLC63s coupe very much but feeling that it lacks a couple of options I really wanted, mostly the performance exhaust and CarPlay, HUD would be nice but can live without. Facelift GLC will serve me well but I'm also fancy a change so I 've been eyeing on a couple of E63s. I usually use WBAC/motorway to compare the value - as I most likely will sell through them (again), and estimate how much it will 'depreciate' once I made the purchase. So for same age and mileage, at same ball park asking price, GLC63s coupe always fetch a few grand more when valued by WBAC and even more so on motorway. With the E class at higher price point when new, what makes the difference? I can only think that small SUVs are popular and in higher demand but the E63s are not exactly had to sell models is it? I kinda liked the experience when I sold my last car to WBAC and I read some positive comments towards motorway, which would be my preferred option but it looks like if I go with an E63s I will probably end up selling private as the quoted price are all very low to this model. Any comments are welcome, just want to see if I'm missing something.

I do that too when I'm buying a car. I pop it into the 'buying' sites to see what it's worth to them. I've found that WBAC likes certain types of car and gives good prices on some but not on others. Their quote for my M140i that I recently sold was very poor so I part ex'd it but other cars that I've checked on their site come up more like the asking price I'm about to pay. Motorway is proving to be better at the moment at the valuations than WBAC for what I have or have been thinking about and I asked for more when I sold on there as it's only a guide.
It's a tricky one as you say because it makes you think that you are paying too much before you've even bought it on some cars.

I sold my R171 SLK55 at the beginning of June for £8300 on eBay, but before I put it on there, one of the sites (not sure which, but I think it was Evans Halshaw) actually followed up by ringing me to offer me under £3500 (I laughed and was rude, I'm afraid...), and Motorway have just offered me £5800.

WBAC valuations are all over the shop, seemingly totally random. At one point they offered £13k for my SL55, then a year later after prices had increased, they offered £9,000. Shortly after I sold it for £19,000. WBAC is great if you have money to chuck away. On the plus side, they offered £6,000 for our A5 which we jumped at because it was a nail.

WBAC & others bid based upon auction prices. Cars like the E63 are rare and very few go through auction, so the bid price is extremely volatile.

My experience of selling E63's is that you will get the best price by trading it at an MB dealer. That may not be what anyone wants to hear, but non-franchised dealers are scared sh!tless of them and always undervalue them.

For E63 I think the general market value actually holds as the ones I was looking at were all gone in a few weeks - but when it comes to selling it's gonna be tricky for me as I tend to avoid selling privately.

Thanks, good to know from first hand experience that MB dealer will potentially offer better price, not sure if I 'd stay with MB at that time. On the other hand, M5 seems getting good valuation from WBAC, but my family is against M5c due to the carbon roof (no sunroof)

It was, and the buyer was delighted with it. If you want a quick sale at a fair price you can't beat an eBay auction, and it does tell you what a car is really worth, i.e. what somebody is actually prepared to pay for it, at a given moment in time. There were several optimistic sellers advertising similar cars as classified ads for £14K or more, and they did not sell.

I read the ad. I was amused to see the car has '...so much to enjoy here including an all-new Drift mode where the engine directs 100% of the torque to the rear wheels.'

Actually, all my AMG estates have had that as standard...

Surprised at the positive comments on WBAC on here as they are renowned for being the worst for lowball offers and essentially ripping you off. I've used 'We Buy Supercars' twice now and very very happy with their service. Motorway also came close. One thing I avoid like the plague is selling a performance car privately. It is a fastrack ticket to getting deluged by dreamers, muppets, timewasters and scam artists. It's just not worth it to me so now I use brokers or dealers. I also tend to go to main dealers-yes you're paying a bit more but you get the reassurance of good formal processes in case something goes wrong. Most other dealers will try and con you about a cars history and condition. As for asking dealers to look for certain cars-it's a very rare one who will go to any length to do that-too much hard work clearly and you dont hear from them again. Every car I've bought has been through me constantly searching forums and sites to find the right one. Sometimes it's taken 2 months or longer and to me its worth travelling 200 miles for the right car than 20 miles for the money pit one.

You post your vehicle details on their site and then dealers can make you an offer to buy your car. On paper this sounds a little better than ‘regular’ car buying sites as you should get bids from dealers with an interest in your specific car, which has to be better for specialist vehicles?

Haven’t used them myself, so can’t say how good or otherwise the experience is.

I just think that the buying public have shifted away from private sales per se unless they are looking to buy an old banger. Just look at the trade vs private breakdown on AT and also to the breakdown of the latter in pricing terms.

I think they bought the car buying site wizzle.co.uk. I've used wizzle before and they were very good with good offers. The offers don't seem as high now it's involved with carwow

WBAC offered for my 2020 E63S 62.000. Well offered, more like quoted. Mercedes dealer offered 55k whereas a used car dealer took it in as part exchange for a 26k car with overall value of 60k. So WBAC was certainly highest offer but no idea how much they would have given me. Issue was as well that the car had PPF that was scratches so the cheapest option was to take it off so the dealer that took it charged me for that pleasure. I was more shocked about the value Mercedes offered. Their online valuation put it on 60k too and when the sales guy rang he said 60k is retail so he won’t pay that but has to go down to 55k

I must say WBAC is not bad. I sold my late mothers car to them. Online evaluation was 6200 and when they saw the car they paid 7900.

I actually regret going to a dealer as that was a pain in the bleep. Two weeks in and I still don’t have my balance of the part exchange (over 30k) whereas WBAC pays same day.
