Early Viano 3L Diesel

Hi folks, I`m a newbie so please be gentle
I`m new to Viano ownership although I`ve had a few Mercedes in the past. My Viano has now developed a serious issue. The automatic gearbox has gone!!
Mine is the 3L V6 diesel and can anyone tell me if a 2.2 auto box would fit / work?

I can't give a definitive answer, but as ratios to compensate for varying powers are changed by the diff I would have thought so.

But look here and see if they detail a different box
