EGR help?

I've got an 07 CLK320CDI that's displaying PO404 and it won't go away!

I've changed the EGR, even though the old one didn't look problematic.

It also has a 'jerk' at around 2k.

I have to unplug the EGR to stop it from going into limp mode which leaves me with the light on and a sluggish/ smokey mid-range but also gets rid of the jerk.

Possibly turbo.

How many miles has the car done?

The car has done 150K, is remapped and had a turbo at 60k

This happened to an Audi of mine. Cleaned out the EGR, didn't help.

Only thing that would of helped was by fitting a blanking kit or just a plate to the hose. The turbo eventually went so I didn't get round to sorting the EGR

I'm aware of an electronic component of the turbo writing off a mechanically good turbo but, why then would it be asking for EGR?
