what could cause this
I've checked my batterys
taken the rear right electric brake actuator off and tested, this didn't want to open and close for some reason
taken the rear right abs sensor out and cleaned
only other thing I beleive it could be a door switch

I had the same message. There is a parking brake control module. On my B Class it is located in the right hand side of the boot. I thought it had failed but turned out to be a bad connection, reseating the plugs fixed it.

To the OP, if you are planning on doing more DIY jobs, then get yourself an iCarsoft, it will often (though not always) pinpoint the issue saving you time and money.

how can I find were it is on a cla45

Have a look behind the boot lining, it’s probably in the same place.
Here’s my previous thread on the issue.
