1999 E300 Estate
:dk:Hi ive got a 1999 e300td estate and to be fair it could be my last got in the car today and drove as normal come to a junction put indicator on =nothing windscreen wipers checked them= nothing sunroof= nothing horn= nothing why ? checked fuses fine never had issue with electrics before now got loads anybody out there who could help me please before i aqqaint this car with a gallon of petrol and a swan vesta:mad:

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but have you checked all the fuses. I know mercedes have fuses all over the place. If you have all the faults that you say you have, it does point to a fuse. Fuses also blow for no apparent reason. I would remove them all, one by one and make sure that they are OK with a meter, then put them back in making sure they are all connecting properly.
Ade

You could try the fuses, check the ends of each fuse for corrosion and also where they fit into their holders. If corroded, clean them up with wet and dry.

One good tip i was given a number of years ago was to put one of the small moisture-absorbing sachets in the fuse box to help stop corrosion.

Thanks for replies ive done all that you suggested already to no avail its doing my head in cant think what else it could be relays have been checked wiggled poked slapped grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I would look for the common point, is it the case that the things you have lost are all Ign on / acc fed? It could be the ignition switch? Check that you actually have voltage at the fuses / relays. I'm afraid its wiring diagram and multimeter time! Don't ginve in tho!! ;-)

I disconnected the battery for ten minutes then reconnected it and now have everything back so that brings me to ecu,s reset them so must have fault somewhere ?????????????? :wallbash: give me another mk 2 escort anyday of the week none of this modern chaos we have to encounter:doh:

None of the items you mention are controlled by an ECU, the fault must be a lost +12v feed.

I had a similar fault with a 1998 300td, the alternator was found to be the culprit in the end.

without sounding thick how will I be able to find out if ive a lost 12v feed/alternator issue ??

More likely a connection to the steering column, or as already said, the ignition switch.

would the key have anything to do with it low battery etc ?

No.
