So, the luxobarge passed its MOT today with almost flying colours, just a couple of advisories for a deteriorating numberplate and slight play in steering. I was just looking at the emissions sheet and wanted views on the results.

CO, limit 3.5% result 0.15% ! HC, limit 1200PPM, result 199PPM

Am I running on fresh air? Surly it's running way too weak ?

It certainly doesn't feel underpowered and doesn't pink/ping under load.

What is the ideal CO reading for a none catted 3.0L lump?

I just scanned over a dozen MOT reports for my old non cat 190e and HC was much the same as yours every time and no where near the limit of 1200. CO varied; occasionally as low as yours, mostly a little higher but never over 0.5% I have a recollection that the spec was 0.5%.

Assuming yours is Bosch KE injection the mixture can be easily adjusted on the airflow sensor plate. The allen screw needs turning by only a very small amount, say no more than 1/8 of a turn at a time clockwise to richen. I would sometimes tweak the screw after an MOT to see what it would read next time.

Thanks for the reply. I may richen it up slightly and see if it smoothens the warm idle a tad. It can be a little lumpy when warm, perfect when cold.
