. E class diesel coupe, 2011. On a run back engine light came on after running again for 2 minutes. I haven't a code reader but curious if anyone knows what is wrong through the symptoms?
Seems to run ok apart from at 40 doesn't want to change gear. Revs slightly high .
Also no kickdown, just accelerates a bit.
Strangest thing is when almost to a stop, feels like someone is braking for me as l m braking to a standstill. Any clues?

Right, no real symptoms now, seem to have kickdown and weird braking effect ok for the moment. So looks like it's a diagnostic appointment needed

It sounds to me like you have a gearbox issue, I had similar problems with my car due to conductor plate failure, and then again a few years later when the torque converter shat itself and took out the oil pump housing out inside the gearbox. Then again, it could be related to egr or boost pressure, I've had problems with all of them, and they all affected the gearchanges. First thing to do would be to read the trouble codes and hopefully that'll point you in the right direction 👍

Hi, l stopped after 18 miles ish for a bit, then another 3 miles home. Symptoms seemed to go, had kickdown back, braking seemed normal and at 40 revs were 1500 again. Light still on. I m no mechanic, so maybe something needs cleaning, egr or dodgy mad possibly

MB still have Conductor Plate failure? had this problem with my 05 CLK 7 speed.

Okay, never heard of that. Just looked up conductor plate and not sure if symptoms were gearbox. Kickdown disappeared then came back, slightly high revs but changed gears alright. And l couldn't describe the braking to a slow stop sensation. Now people are saying lunge, l suppose it felt a bit like that although l was nigh on stationery

Agree Mucypaps, Get the codes read using MB STAR diagnostics or newer version will show up any problems with conductor/electro plate.

Right, diagnostics says the DPF sensor is faulty. That's fine but the armchair mechanic is thinking. I had it booked in before this with mercedes for a free software update. I ve probably read too much, but I m thinking now it's an emissions update. I don't know.
So my question is do l have the update, booked for 6th then do the sensor booked for 7th. As the sensor is part of emissions, does this need to be done first?
