Hi All,
My car is mercedes w211 e280 2009,
89k miles on clock,
This car never had engine carbon cleaning done before,
Is it good for engine?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" that is if the engine is running fine leave alone. Interventions could loosen debris that could be detrimental to the internals.

Never seen anything scientific to back up the suppose benefits of this. If it were the case it would be a manufacturer service item during higher mileages.

Engine carbon cleaning is a great idea, but - as others alluded to - I am not sure that it can be easily achieved by any of the off-the-shelf DIY products that claim to do it.

Short of removing the cylinder head... you can try products like TerraClean or Sea Foam, but again, not sure how effective they are.

Personally, I'd just use some basic fuel additives, such as Redex, Forte, Millers, Wynns, BG44K, etc, they may not fully clean the engine, but for the small cost and the minimal effort involved, it must be worth a go. Alternatively you can use premium fuels, they contain detergents that serve the same purpose.
