W221 S350L, R231 SL350 (both sold) & SL400 (current)
2011 S-Class (W221) S350L Bluetec with 58,000 miles on the clock.

I'll be needing to replace my engine mounts at some time (advised as such by a reliable Mercedes Specialist) as my car has a very slight vibration coming through the steering wheel . It's not imminent but as I plan on keeping the car I'd like to get this sorted sooner rather than later.

There are 2 engine mounts and 1 transmission mount. The MB parts numbers (supplied to me by Mercedes Benz Main Dealer Parts Department) are:
Left side: MA221 240 66 17/64
Right side: MA221 240 67 17/64
Transmission: MA221 240 09 18

The Left side is currently on Back Order, has been for a while and no indication as to when it will become available.

My local MB Specialist has told me that there are a couple of good replacement Brands that should be suitable: Lemforder and Febi Bilstein.

I am finding it virtually impossible to find the correct Lemforder and Febi Bilstein part numbers for these. I have contacted a few suppliers, giving them all the details including VIN and Reg number and they have all come back with different options. I want to find out when the car is on the ramps being repaired that the parts I've given them won't fit.

I would be grateful for any advice regarding other suitable replacement Brands or how to identify the correct parts numbers please. Cheers in advance.

Have you tried Autodoc
I've looked on Autodoc but the product numbers they list for my car don't match the MB part numbers:
Autodoc states Left side OE number: 221 240 35 17, A 221 240 35 17
There is no "Right side". The other engine mount that's listed for my car states "Both sides" - but can't be correct as both engine mounts are different.

I'm confused.

Not helping identify the correct part numbers for you (although they might be the same as I bought), but for my w212 E350 CDI 2011, the Lemforder engine mounts and Febi transmission mount suggested by Autodoc were the correct ones for my car. I'll check out the part numbers later just for info.

I too had to get a Febi transmission mount last year, as there were no MB mounts, nor any Lemforder. A bit of a shot show, but the Febi item seemed okay and the garage that fitted it seemed to think it was a perfect fit.

For w212 E350 CDI 2011 only, for info.

Lemforder 35707 01 Right Mount (hydro)

Lemforder 37296 01 Left Mount

Febi 11107 Transmission Mount.

So looks like left and right mounts might be different for the OM642 engine?

MB list 2 different stock numbers for left and right mounts for 2011 W221 S350L Diesel and are showing that the left is out of stock so they must be different.

I'll have to wait for MB genuine mounts when they're back in stock as the correct mounts for my car don't seem to be available in lemforder - the "OE" numbers don't match (mine needs A221 240 66 17 and A221 240 67 17). Here's the search results from the online Lemforder catalogue.

Who told you that the engine mounts were different ? The bit they bolt on to is different but the oil filled 'bladder' is the same left an right . Lemforder , whether it is their factory in Turkey or wherever else in the world supply MB with more than just engine mounts.

The MB part numbers came directly from MB Grangemouth after I gave them my Reg and VIN numbers. The right mount is available but the left one is on back order. I've also contacted MB Newcastle and my local Main Dealer who told me exactly the same - the left mount is currently out of stock. If they were the same, I'm sure there wouldn't be different part numbers. There are some engine mounts listed as "both sides" for the W221 but a different production year. I think there were changes in 2011 as this diagram mentions different part numbers depending on chassis number (my chassis number is A448318, build was in October 2011):

Understood 👍 but it does make you wonder why the stock levels for one side is low when it's reccommended to replace them in pairs. But I think we know the answer to that.

I have also heard that some look identical but have different part numbers because the oil inside and inner construction differs because of engine weight/power of similar models.

They probably got bored and thought 'how can we pi$$ off mechanics/owners all over the world today...? 🤔 "

" I know , let's delete the very useful drain plug from a perfectly serviceable torque converter on our most popular transmission !"

Let's tell them that it's sealed for life .

NEIN ! , we did that around 2004/5

" OK , lets hold the headlamp bulb spring retaining clip in with a tiny tamper proof torx screw making it almost impossible to replace a headlamp bulb on the side of the road in an emergency and to make it worse omit to add a suitable torx bit to the car's toolkit ! "

Great Idea !! ...but we did that on some models already.

Hurry up and come up with something better Han's or you are fired...and do NOT say delete dipsticks you DIPSTICK !!

I blame Han's for the engine mount dilemma.

Just placed an order with "woxparts.com" for the Left Mount (MB genuine) as it's showing as in stock. The company is based in Latvia and they ship worldwide. I've ordered the other 2 mounts from MB Grangemouth. Fingers crossed that they all arrive in "reasonable" time.

Total for the mounts was £362. Fitting will be done by my local MB specialist (Mertec) for £234. Grand total (including £6 consumables) = £602
The quote for supply and fit from local MB Main Dealer was over £1,300.

Just chased woxparts.com for update on delivery. I was informed that they do not have these in stock as they order everything direct from MB Germany (who don't have these in stock). Order cancelled and refund received.

I then called Grangemouth MB Parts and asked Neil if I have to keep phoning every week to check stock status. He did some checking on their system and managed to locate the left mount in stock at another branch. Yippee! Big thanks to Neil for his help. Will now get it booked in with the specialist asap.
