EQA will not start

I received my 23 plate EQA 350 3rd March. A week later I got in the car and all the warning lights came on and the car wouldn’t start. Walked away eventually after numerous attempts at starting and went back 10 minutes later - started no problem. This has happened on another 9 occasions since - again the only solution seems to be walk away while the car “resets” itself - had it in the garage and they did a “software update “ but the random issue carries on - anyone else had this issue? Garage quite dismissive and no much help

Does the car not come to life at all? Instrument cluster and infotainment system both remain black?

Or do the displays come up, but the car can't be put in forward gear?

Literally all the alarm lights on the dash come up and it flashes up “inoperable- see owners manual “ so can’t do anything from then on

Mercedes-Benz Owner's Manuals
Exactly where and when does this all occur. Is it just after its come off charge? One possibility is the car thinks it's still connected to the charger -----that is the cable is still connected despite this physically not the case. Could be a variety of reasons for this state of affairs related to the charger, car or even some communication glitch if it's an intelligent charger.

It’s completely random - I just thought I can’t be the only EQA owner who’s seen this

Take a photo of the dashboard next time it happens and send to the dealer who supplied it. It seems crazy that you can't just get in and drive off when you want to. Many people won't have the luxury of being able to leave it and come back later.

Thanks - I actually took a video (unfortunately I can’t post it on here ) and showed it to the dealer when I was there - just got a shrug of the shoulders 🙄

This attitude from the dealer is unsurprising.. if they won't take the car in to assess/fix this issue.. I would consider rejecting the car and getting your money back.

As you can see from post 9 the eqa has 2 electrical systems a conventional 12 V / 48 V system which functions as a control system for the majority of the conventional car electronics and the main propulsion motor/battery high-voltage system. It's unlikely the main propulsion system is faulty but there is likely to be a conflict of communication /instructions between the low-voltage system and the high-voltage propulsion system to prevent high-voltage propulsion system from engaging. The only way to fault find the systems is to get the car plugged into Mercedes electronic diagnostics where there should be faults stored that's the rational approach anything else is merely guesswork.

Don't know if you've got Facebook, but theres a discussion about it from a year ago. You're definitely not the only one with this problem.

One comment copied from that discussion:

"Richard Mason
I had a malfunction message, I called Mercedes through the Mercedes me app, they suggested, in true tech style, to "switch if off and switch it on again' you have to go far enough away that the keys are no longer in contact for a few minutes. It worked for me."

Sounds like the IT crowd.. fobbery
☹️
