Euro 4 or Euro 5?

First question from a Newbie! I recently bought a 57 plate E320 CDI Sport (W211) registered Nov 08. My question is, is the engine Euro 4 or Euro 5 compliant and would it have a DPF, or was that an option on that model. At my age getting underneath to have look for the DPF is not an option and SWMBO's sense of humor doesn't reach to that!

Thanks.

How did you manage that then?

A 57 plate ran from Sept 2007 to the end of Feb 2008

Registration in November 2008 would make your Car a 58 plate, no?

I told you I was too old to get underneath and after a glass of wine on a Friday the years tend to run together!

Thanks for the replies, very helpful.

Update on DPF question - Had my MOT done today and she passed no problems. Also asked garage to confirm whether or not a DPF was fitted - NO DPF. Hooray!!! Only problem is that the supplying dealer registered it in 2007 in Band K - with a DPF. The 320 CDI Sport has 2 tax ratings - with and without DPF and with a DPF it emits more CO2 which puts it in band K instead of J, and that's £20 PA. Discussion with DVLA imminent.

Mine has no DPF and it is in band K £270 a year. Just had a look at the DVLA website and put both into the system with and without DPF and both show the same tax band...

I have not looked to see if the year makes any difference but with my 57 plate a DPF equipped car is band K and a non DPF car is band J - £20 quid a year.

Spoke to the DVLA this morning and they require a letter from MB on headed notepaper confirming the CO2 emissions of my VIN No. Also, spoke to MB Customer Services who were very helpful and explained how I get that. According to the lady I spoke to it's not uncommon for the supplying dealer to screw it up where DPFs are involved.

Anyone needing it:
Mercedes-Benz UK - Cars - Official site
Owners Area
Registration Import Export

then its just follow the instructions.

hope this helps

Phil

PS mine's a saloon

Final Update!

Sent all the evidence of ownership etc to MB Customer Services and explained the issue. They were very helpful and replied with a very comprehensive email within 24 hours. Apparently the CO2 emissions for my car (202 gms/km) as stated on the V5 is correct and therefore it is in Band K for VED. However, the DVLA web site which states that the saloon version with 265/35/R18 rear tyres and no DPF is 199 gms/km is incorrect. MBCS are taking it up with the DVLA to sort it out.

Welcome and don't forget the photos :thumb:.
