Hi Everyone, I have just joined (intro done yesterday) here having purchased a CLK350 2005 model so will be visiting quite a bit. One thing I have noticed already which must frustrate a lot of users is people asking questions because they run into issues but then never bother advising whether their issues were resolved. A lot of people go to great lengths to make forums work so if you ask a question, let everyone know whether or not your issue was resolved and how it was resolved. I have asked a couple of questions on 2 old threads from 2021 and 2022 re the common glovebox issues, I hope some sort of notification goes out that a question has been asked on old threads. I am really looking forward to participating and uploading pics etc when warranted so I hope this hasn't put anyone out of joint from a newbie who loves playing with cars. Cheers Glenn

Welcome, I hope you find information shared on the forum useful. Your suggestion that members report back when they find a solution is a very sensible one. Information shared about repairs etc keeps us all going in the correct way. Nothing worse than a thread about a problem with several suggested fixes including getting it looked at on Star to which the OP original poster) says they are taking it in next week then disappears from the tread never to report back.

... or the common thing is now that people want their threads deleting, once an answer has been provided.

really😒
Not within the spirit of the whole forum thing is it?

Yeah it's happening weekly now. Someone, normally a user who hasn't been on here for ages demanding their posts/threads be removed as to no longer having the car.

Messaging them back explaining that it will be helpful for others, keeping the posts rarely offers any kind of response from them.

Hey Ho, it's their loss.

Time to include a sentence or two in the T&Cs upon sign up?

Hi , I know some members think that I am a pain in the **** but our forum has really helped me regarding potential issues with my car.

I genuinely believe that if you are asking for help on the forum other members should also benefit from members help to other member with the same or similar issues with their car.

I have learnt more about my car than anyone can imagine.

Totally agree with the comments above. I have learnt so much from the users here, in fact it helped me choose my MB! I was prepared for all sorts of SL R230 shenanigans after joining, and as such when the fickle beastie sulked i already knew what the issue probably was and fixed it promptly.
Makes owning the car fairly non stressful.
I hope that all of my posts for advice and help and vice versa are indeed kept for others that will have the same issues.
