W202 C43
No prizes for guessing which one from the log-in name I've chosen!
I'm no stranger to Mercs, having owned a 560SEL, a W202 C200, an R129 320 and a 350 SLK (my wife's). Sadly the SLK had to go when our son was born.
I've had my C43 for all of 2 days now. Bought unseen off eBay. Lots of phone calls before bidding and when I turned up it still had undeclared faults:
1. Rust on bottom corners of doors and boot
2. Aircon isn't cold
3. Rear tyres at the legal limit
4. Drivers door mirror doesn't adjust left/right (but does up and down)
5. Cracked rear offside light cluster
Still, the seller offered to negotiate after I refused to buy it and I was happy with the agreed price. And it drives like a dream! FSH and all the old MOT's (although it's due a service now).
I've got a few questions so I'll start posting in the correct sections.
Cheers, Colin

Welcome the the MBClub and the C43 club.

I suspect the AC fault is a leaking condensor. They are so very common to leak and I have just put one on mine.

When you get bored of the little 4.3 you can upgrade to the 5.5 engine......

Hi Colin and welcome to the forum

Hi,welcome and enjoy your car:thumb:

Hi and welcome

The mirror prob their are two plastic adjusted with ball joints on them I bet one is broken easy fix

Hi,
Welcome to the forum Colin.
Good choice of car but then of course I,m biased, post some pics up of it.
Regarding the door mirror. Move the mirror glass by hand from one extreme to the other in the plane that it doesn't move, mine has done as you have described several times normally when they haven't been moved for a while, and this has fixed it.
I have also had one of the little ball joints break on me but in my case it just let the mirror go loose in one of the movement planes.

Cheers guys.
I'm going to be looking for info on quieter rear tyres, louder (decat) exhausts and I want to know more about the 55 conversion!!

I have done 3 now and there is quite a bit of info on here about the conversion. Well worth it IMO.

It's something I'd consider but to begin with I'd like a more free flowing exhaust - who do I talk to about that?

I did make de-cat pipes for the C43. I dont have any left right now.

Quieter tyres but a lounder exhaust!!

You sound like our kind of man.

Welcome to the forum.

I have one of ollys de-cat exhaust that I could sell you if you want a high grade de-cat system

top choice for a first AMG, after fixing the little niggles there are many mods that can be done :)
