Hi,

I have just purchased a 2014 C200 CDi and the manuals that came with the car indicate that the system in it is an Audio 20

All the Youtube videos I have looked at on how to install the camera, show the changes needed to the system in the engineering menu. I have gone into that and it looks nothing like what I have and indeed none of the reverse camera options or vide options are their either. Pictures below show what mine is looking like.....

Question is, as there is nothing in settings relating to a reverse camera, is there anyway I can activate it, with this version of the firmware and if not, how do I upgrade it please.

Cheers,

Dave

Get in touch with the guys at Comand Online with your Vin# handy. They can see what you have fitted and advise on how to get your camera working.
You may find you need Star (Mercedes diagnostics) to code the camera to the car for it to work.

As above.

Also, MB cars were available with either the entry-level Audio20 system, or the higher-end COMAND.

And, the name 'Audio20' is generic and has been applied by MB to a range of entry-level infotainment systems (made by various manufacturers) over the past 20 years.

So if you are following instructions found online, make sure they relate to an identical model of Audio20 as the one you have (and not to COMAND, or to other Audio20 variants).

Your W204 will have the unit known as 'Audio20 NTG4.5' (not to be confused with COMAND Online NTG4.5, which, as said, is a different system).

BTW, MB never offered a reverse camera option in conjunction with the Audio20 for the W204, so there is no official retrofit kit for your car, though www.comandonline.co.uk do have an aftermarket (not MB) reverse camera kit that works with Audio20 for the W204.

PS - I am not sure if coding is needed or not, but definitely a firmware upgrade is not DIY and requires STAR.

That's a bit cheeky of them. So, it looks like I wont be putting in a perfectly fine (cheap) after market camera lol.......

STAR sounds interesting.... I love a challenge. I've used the VAG system and the PSA one. Once I got the right laptop specs sorted, they were quite fun to tinker with. :)

STAR is not available for purchase by private individuals. There are pirated Chinese clones available, but these won't be discusses on here, for obvious legal reasons. At any rate, firmware upgrades require genuine STAR with active online subscription, which is something that only dealers and specialists (such as www.comandonline.co.uk) will have.

OK, cheers for the heads up. Looks like binning the camera Idea off then lol.

A bit cheeky of whome?

As said, MB never offered the reverse camera option with the Audio20. Your options are to either retrofit COMAND and the original MB reverse camera, or opt for an aftermarket reverse camera kit that was designed to work with Audio20.
