Free 'QR Rescue Codes'

I got a letter in the post from MB some years ago but did not go to them to have it done (had the W203 at the time).

My current W204 already has it from the factory.

In essence it's a code that the fire brigade can scan and it will take them straight to the right page on some sort of hand-held computer they carry - this page will show the points where the frame needs to be cut for rescue, and where to be careful (fuel tank location, gas, etc).

I suppose it does save a few potentially crucial minutes, especially when a car is badly mangled and it can take a couple of minutes to establish the make and model before accessing the data manually.

So overall it's not bad idea... assuming that all cars have it and that that fire-fighters are actually equipped with the hand-held scanners/computers obviously.

Until then, we'll have to rely on the veteran that has seen it all and knows exactly where to cut ... I am assuming that each unit will have one of those old geezers to hand :)

Yes we had them done (for free) some years ago. There's a previous thread about it.

just spotted these on MB site https://forms.mercedes-benz.co.uk/QR-Rescue-Codes

Anyone got these? Seem a bit pointless IMO

Abs

I don't really see how they can be pointless. If there is any chance whatsoever that placing two stickers in places where they are normally not seen could possibly have even the slightest beneficial effect in the event of a major accident, then why wouldn't you do it?

What I mean is I don't think the fire brigade will be looking for this sticker

Noticed it after a service at MB a couple of years ago ... hopefully it will never be required o_O
