Front Parking Sensors

Hi

We have a 2008 E220, it was bought in 2013 but the front parking sensors never worked, they seem aftermarket and have a CANM8-MERCPARK installed.

We have managed to replace the front sensors and unit with another unit but these stay on all the time. the display has a silent switch so the buzzing can be switched off.

The old unit had 3 power wires in the plug of the unit, Red, Black and White. The new unit has just two Red and Black.

The feed runs from a CANM8-MERCPARK which does flash when the car is on and still does

we just connected the red and black to the new unit

the specs of the CANM8-PARK are as follows

"CANM8-MERCPARK

The CANM8-MERCPARK interface incorporates a unique Speed Dependent Output, specifically for the control of Front Parking Sensors from the vehicle CAN Bus. A 12v controlled output is generated by the interface as soon as speed is detected and switched off while the vehicle speed is above approximately 6 MPH.
Additionally, a timed 12v output is provided when Drive gear is selected. The output is automatically deactivated when Park gear is selected.
If a continuous 12v control signal is required, a seperate output provides a signal while the vehicle is at standstill, terminating at speeds above 6 MPH.

We did connect one sensor to the old Unit and it did buzz but we didnt get a chance to drive the car while the old unit and new sensors were connected

Does anyone know if that white power wire could be the wire that controls the unit and the swtich off when the car speed is over 6mph, it does run from the CANM8-MERCPARK.

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks in advance

regards

CAN-M8 has a load of different outputs which are used depending on what parking sensors you use.

It looks like your new sensors have just power wires (but as I don't know what they are, you need to check black is ground and red is +12), so you need to use the output of the CAN-M8 that is only powered up when below "a few mph"

On the CANM8-MERCPARK, I believe that is the purple or the orange wire that provides +12v at speeds below 6mph. One of them supplies power between 1mph and 6, the other between 0mph and 6. Can't remember which -but I'm sure google will help

Pretty sure one is on from 0mph to 6pmh, and one is from 1mph to 6mph. You want the 0mph one (i.e the one that is live when stationary)
