front single wiper not working

hi just found this site and hope that someone out there can help me. I have only had my 1996 E200 elegance estate for two weeks. Unfortunately had to abandon it for three days last week because of the snow. When we rescued it the battery was flat. Now the windscreen wiper wont work. It seems to be making a noise as though it really wants to. Please help me as it needed an MOT and all it failed on was needing bracket welded for exhaust (fixed) and a tyre which has been replaced. But it wont pass without its wiper working. My husband is quite good but he has never had a mercedes so has no idea where to start with this but is happy to have a go if anyone has any suggestions. thanks for any help http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

Its for a W202 but principle is much the same.

The simplest fix is to get a complete wiper + motor unit from a breaker if you can lay your hands on one..

Graeme, this post here… http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/bodywork/49258-w202-wiper-problem.html …will be a closer description of what is wrong in this particular case, either the fault will be striped gears in the wiper motor gear box OR there is a loose nut to the rear of the mechanism.

Sounds like stripped gears to me. Prbably a replacement motor.
