Let me no any thoughts on what mayb a problem thanks.

We are a little short of facts here to give a definite answer, the numbers are a bit vague and you need to explain what type of traffic you're doing (urban, a-roads, motorways). But so far it doesn't sound that abnormal to me.

How much is £10 worth of fuel? About 10.5 liters? And 61 miles is almost 100km. So, 10-11 liter/100 km.

Not brilliant for a small car, but not that extraordinary high either, especially not if we're talking about urban traffic.

Driving style is a major factor in fuel consumption, as is traffic type.

Heavy foot? ;)

I've actually been driving this car carefully changin at 3k each gear .

Driving on country road/town roads.

£10 at 95p per litre is 26mpg.
Not bad for a C200. A C230K would give better economy or of course a diesel....did I just say that..

Using this as a guide. Keep the revs witin the peak torque revs +1000 or -500. This is the engines most efficient range.

Trust you to work it out in Euro speak... Quick thinking though..

Maybe we should all swap to miles per litre..?? in which case Zac's would be...5.7 mpl.

Ah, well, it's what I have been used to since childhood you see. Saying it in l/100km "means" something to me, whereas for the mpg thing I always have to consult my little l/100km to mpg table .

They have miles in Sweden, a Swedish mile is 10km and this is figure used for fuel consumption, Fiesta's and the like run at a figure of around 0.06 litre per mile and a 300TE was 1.12 liters per mile

In my best Blue Peter voice...Here's one I made earlier... I did this for a friend with a jeep that displays the economy in litres.

Ages ago I heard a funny story about when VW were going to show a new 3 litre car at the German motorshow. Something to do with Herr Piech retiring...
BMW heard about this and not to be outdone quickly rushed together the 330 for display.

VW turned up with a VW Lupo 1.4Tdi, that had a consumption of under 3l/100km or 94mpg...:D :D

Cheers, it's better (more detailed) than my own :D ;).

Ha, ha, ha, ha! Priceless! :D

I've only just noticed that the relationship between l/100km and mpg is exponential.

Take 3 l/100km, then look at 6 l/100km, then 12 l/100km.

The difference between say 12 and 13 l/100km is very little in mpg terms and the difference between 3 and 4 l/100km is very large in mpg terms.

I used to check my old c200 regular as clockwork. From a full tank of fuel to the fuel light coming on always ended up filling up again at or around the 300 mile mark.My CLK is worse at about 250 miles to a tank doing the same journey.

give the D word a rest. :-)

Is that directed at me.?

The O/p is concerned how much fuel he uses so it seemed logical to suggest which engines would give better economy.
I think C230K crept in there as well.;)

I think you'll find that on average that is about right, was similar with mine and a bit better with the c230k.
