Gearbox Sticking.

HI, I have a 2005 (55) E220 CDI Avantgarde, I've had it a couple of years and can only sing it's praises, But have an issue now.

whilst driving the car it will randomly give a judder from the gearbox and then gets stuck in the gear it's in and the tiptronic will not allow manual change. also the comfort/sports mode button will not allow change either.

It does work again when i pull over, switch off and restart the car, Then all is back to normal and it could be a couple of days before it happens again.
I'm assuming that the problem may be computer orientated as by switching off and on again, something is resetting,

It may be short of oil, get it checked out.

Thank you very much, i'll try that,
On reading other post it seems that the box does need some maintenance but not spotted on a service schedule. It's about 500 miles from going on a C service anyway.

Get it on a Star too. This will help with diagnosis.

located problem, faulty speed sensor 3. code 2203. thanks for help and more at ease knowing that it is not the gearbox, phew.....now to sort, but any ideas cost to repair, not had that back yet.
