The silver one.
Just looking on pistonheads and searched for e class, amg and 7 came up 6 were either fakes or had the words amg styling.

Only one was a gen AMG.

Got me thinking ( a feat in itself) are there more fakes than real amgs out there?

Only seen one myself in the last 6 mths an E36 AMG in Maidstone, but was it real? had correct bumpers, exhaust, wheels etc, looked well looked after older fella driving it.

Guy i bought my car off told me it had e55 amg badges on when he bought it.

Good point....

Anyone know where I can get hold of some BRABUS badges, pref in black.

:-)))))

Same with BMW M models. The most common BMW M3 is probably a 7yr old 318 (as its the cheapest to insure) with all the mods that make it look fast, but with all the shove of a normal 318.

However in a BMW mag, a fella badged his M5 (E39) a 520i for a laugh. However it still had the exhausts and mirrors for that "bazza" look. Must have given those how thought it was a modded travesty a fright or too :D

If only because it looked Barry'd out...

I think AMG is a seriously devalued brand, a bit like Burberry has become. Both once were exclusive, rare & desirable.

Before MB took over AMG if you saw one you could count yourself lucky. They were rocking horse poo rare & you knew you were looking at something very special indeed.

Now the AMG brand is everywhere. You see it on watches, on baseball caps, on £300 190 bangers. It's lost a lot of its caché.

But made a tremendous amount of money for Mercedes.

They bought a bespoke tuning company, turned it into a brand and merchandised it.....sound business sense which can only lead to dilution ultimately.

So in steps Brabus...turned into a brand...Merchandised....etc etc....

Did you go to Mercedes > E Class > search for AMG

....as the AMG has a section of their own...Mercedes > AMG ....so might be more there! :D

There is a bloke I've seen a few times at Nordschleife with a UK regged E46 CSL badged as a 316.

I found my e36 by doing the opposite, go to E class then use the filter for AMG, incorrectly advertised cars are usually cheaper ;)

Or use the filters and put in E55 or E36 or C43 or C36 etc, don't bother with the AMG bit and it'll work on specific model.

I've always done similar, ran my Hartge Cooper S with a One badge for a little while, that was a lot of fun! CL badge on my S/charged VR6 etc

Agreed there, can always find a bargain that way! But if he was looking he may have a limited choice that was all! :)

When I search on ebay and such like, I use alternate spellings too, just in case ;) :)

210bhp as opposed to 110bhp. Must have been a surprise to those who took you on in the traffic light grandprix.

However the Hartge ones had air intakes on the front so not so hard to spot that its more powerful than a mini one

Seems to be the in-thing to fit AMG badge to MB's. Surprising how many MB's i see with AMG badging on the rear. Funniest thing seem recently in Exeter was a Lexus with MB Kompressor badges on the side wings, and AMG decals on wheels - does the small Lexus saloon come with a supercharger?
