I am looking at buying a GL to replace my wonderful (there is so much space) Chrysler Grand Voyager. Why? Well - it's only 2WD & I need to seat 6 adults & 1 child and tow a caravan (between 1600 & 2100kgs) and there is nothing else on the market that will do this. Landbruiser 3rd seats are a joke and the Disco & XC90 have no boot space!
I'm slightly ambivalent about whether to go for the 320, 420 or even the 500 as I only do around 6,000 mile per year (although a 500 with an LPG convert would be soooo nice) and would welcome opinions from forum members.
So why post this under tyres? Well - given that I want to lug a nice hefty caravan around on wet fields, mud etc 4WD is a given but looking at tyre range options for the GL on 19 & 20" wheels is a bit of a disappointment!!
Does anyone know of a proper 4x4 tyre for the GL series or if it is possible to fit a 17" or 18" rim and then fit a tyre such as those shown below ( I believe there is an issue with smaller rims due to front caliper size )
Continental
Michelin
Any comments / advice etc much appreciated on model, tyres as well as ownership experiences!
