GLC 43 AMG
Hey Y'all
Posting here for the first time and also my first time owning a Merc
I've been pushed to have a family wagon but still have the boy racer in me!
A question to Other AMG drivers though....
I previously owned a range vogue still have a v8 M3 both of which get 10MPG more than my merc
I've only had it for a month and a half and yet I'm averaging 12 mpg round town(I cannot get it above that even in eco mode) - motorway driving returns 17 MPG, Now i don't think I have unreasonable expectations but, this seems very low.... its costing a ridiculous amount per week to fuel this car and even though i expected it to be slightly thirsty this is nowhere near the advertised MPG, Any one else have any problems with MPG in their AMGS?

That does seem very low unless it’s exceptionally heavy traffic, and I guess you would have mentioned it had that been the case.

Wow that’s terrible or you have your foot welded to the floor. MrsG did 302miles today (mostly M-way) at 30.7mpg in the E43.

wow . ok i get 11.9 in eco mode today doing the 30 mile an hour speedlimit with a light foot
Back to mercedes for me, Its crazy as I'm loathe to use any of the performance because it just sucks the petrol out in minutes, I filled the car up today with £85 and its showing just over 200 mile range will is also a liberal estimate given the speed the range falls

I get better mpg with my 6.2 V8, there must be something wrong with a sensor.

Urp ! my prehistoric 2006 C55 AMG (5.4 V8 N/A) has managed 22.5 mpg over 24 months (30K+ miles) no matter how I drive it. It has zero 'clever' electronic gubbings to 'massage' the MPG figures.

I would suggest something is wrong with your car.

The car doesn't feel inhibited in any way plus there would be a terrible stench and squeal from the discs if that were the case - I've reached out to AMG and I ll have to have a diagnostic done on it in the new year. In the meantime i should buy shares in shell to make some of my money back...

Hi,
Are you displaying UK or US mpg?
Don’t forget - a US gallon is smaller - so this would make your mpg seem worse than it is!
17mpg US = 20.4mpg UK
Cheers
Steve

congrats, lovely car !

if your car is brand new ,this may affect your MPG during the run in period especially the first few hundred miles. my wagon (c63s) was giving me a very low return initially , may be 12 or 13mpg including motorway. it now does 22 average over theast 1k miles including 30 percent motorway (by time spent in car) and very short journeys during the day on my mini home to station commute.

and if you're driving in heavy rain, which I have been recently ! then this may reduce MPG by 10 to 20 per cent too or that's what I'm finding . even though I'm driving slower, and my tyres love to aquaplane . I normally hit 29 to 30 when I drive like my grand dad on summer tyres in the dry but I can't seem to get an millimetre over 26 at the moment in the heavy rain even when cruising at 55 to 60 which should be the spot spot normally on my car to return the magical 30 mpg number.

it would be interesting to understand how your motorway journeys have been and what's the cumulative reading on your trip computer of number of miles and overall MPG?

lastly , what tyre type has the wagon got and what's the pressure reading at the mo?

My good mate's E92 M3 gets a slightly better return than what you're describing above for the 43 too so I would be perplexed if I were you too !

i have had my c63 4.0 for just over 2 months and 4 fuel tanks in total i am averaging 16.7mpg.

i do 8 mile round trip to work in heavy traffic takes about 30-35 mins each way, other driving is just for fun so i am happy with the current return.

That seems high - I get similar mpg in my GLE63s which I’m guessing is more powerful

I get similar with a 507 and I do the same mileage one way and usually heavy traffic.

Only had ours since Thursday (500 miles on the clock), averaged just under 20 mpg on first tank. Currently averaging 24 mpg. Pottering about town and motorway work.

2017 C63s Coupe @ 14500 miles average 23.7 mpg, on a long steady motorway run it will go as high as 30 mpg.

Hi AndrewK,

I am shortly coming up to 1 year of ownership of my glc43 - and I average around 25mpg, made up of short and long (ish) trips. The occasional long motorway trip has got me 30mpg. Very short trips, I.e. nursery runs, gets me 14-17 but tbh that didn't shock me.

Regards,
Jon

Jeez. That is exactly the same as my m157 5.5, which is a 557bhp engine.

So basically the 43 is slower, but as thirsty lol. Oh dear.

That doesn't add up, does it!? Ha.

AndrewK...I think we've been stitched-up! :p

Never mind - I still love it! :)

Some terrible MPG figures here but if I was bothered I’d be driving a 2.0l diesel.
