GLC vs GLE 63

If I had the money

GLE63 over the GLC63

I really do like the GLC63 (nothing wrong with them) and would own one no problem but if your in a position to choose I would take the GLE63.

If you do end up getting the GLC63 make sure it’s the estate they look so much fatter and aggressive than the coupe

If you end up getting the GLE63 make sure it’s the coupe they look more sexier than the estate 😂

I have exact the same preference as you on the 2 models with SUV vs coupe, I’m now pretty much decided to go with GLE coupe as the default options are already fully loaded, and value wise seems good for 18/19 plate compare to GLC. Now just need to find a good one :)

Haha glad we got the same taste with the GLC and GLE models 😁

I'd suggest the GLCs over the GLE if space wasn't the main consideration and I'd take a c63s wagon or E63 wagon over the above SUVs again if space isn't the main consideration. The main reason being the handling of the GLC over the GLE. The c and E wagons over the GLC. The most potent SUV I've driven is a Cayenne and a GLC 350, so no AMG. I had a GLA 45 for a while but it is more a hatchback so doesn't count.

Engine wise, the 5.5 is a beauty but it is hauling a giant heavy SUV so loses some of its potency. The 4.0l revs high up to 7k and you'll get a much faster transmission on the GLC. The performance exhaust really does add to the giggle factor IMO. I can barely hear the exhaust on my 5.5l E class compared to the c63s I had before it.

This wagon has the 5.5l and I'd pick that over a GLE.

If you weren't fussed with the boot space, the saloons are cheaper still.

In summary i would suggest any AMG wagon over the SUVs but that's because handling and visibility matter a bit too much over ride height advantage. The E class estate has a 690ish litre boot , I bet the GLE can't match that ...

Just reading above you liked the cayenne.
I went Ml63 to a cayenne 4.8 gts, loved the idea but so disappointed, it’s just no contest to the ML63, the Gle63s is just in another league all together.
I think the Glc 63 is great having driven one but it’s no Gle63s.

Whats the allure to the GLE? The ride height , tech ? I liked the cayenne interior etc but its a very sterile vehicle which is why I own a wagon or saloon. I can't see the point of an SUV amg

That engine can probably pull an 8 carriage train 🤣

Thanks for the recommendations. I have never been a fan for wagon's - always like a coupe look either a 2 doors or SUV coupe. I looked at both the GLC and GLE the other day (but didn't manage to drive them) but I think I prefer the GLE purely by the look and the spec. It will be the only car for the family so will have to do everything for me, the GLE is the right level of luxury, size and fun factor (hoping that I can buy before mid Aug so I can take it for a NC500 road trip).
