Hello guys,

The glow plug warning light has appeared on my dashboard and remain shows when driving.

Can someone advise an approx cost for replacing these - parts + labour.

I believe they would need to replace all 4?
How long should they typically last?

My vehicle is a CLK w209 CDi220 2007.

Any input / advice welcome.

Thank you so much.

Maybe £60 for the 4 plugs and an hours Labour . Worth getting them all changed if they are many years old . They should last a few years .

I Just bought NGK glow plugs for £11.00 each. Changing all four increases the risk of shearing one, they are only 10mm. I just did number 4 and had no problems, I have another one in stock should another one fail.

Are the plugs numbered? Do I source the parts from somewhere like Euro Car Parts?

Thank you so much. I think they maybe 3-4 years old.

I bought mine from my local GSF. You will need a scan tool to tell you which one has failed. Worst case senario is the glow plug relay has gone, they are expensive.

Just be aware, on my old CLK it was the relay for the glow plugs that was at fault.

Just replace the duff one. They are like bulbs.. they work or they don't.... they others could last for years. I replaced one about 4 years ago.... only replaced another a few months back. Easy DIY... just make sure the engine is good and hot before removal to minimise the chance of snapping.
Easy to tell the duff one....put a multimeter set on ohms between the tip of the glow plug and the cylinder head close to it...should be about 2 ohms.....duff ones usually read about 50 to 60.

Was also the relay along with one plug , replace everything but make sure the relay is a genuine MB part not a cheap copy.
