hi i have a 96 E200 does anyone know how to make it go abit faster what mods i could get or use also it dont like hills it slows right down any ideas on how to fix this thanks for your time steve

Hi Steve the engine in the e200 is the smallest in it's class & bearing in mind the e class is quite a big heavy car your never going to make a lot of difference by re-mapping/modifying it.Best bet (unless your totally in love with it)would be to change it for a bigger(ie e320)engined car if it's financially viable, hope this helps:)

Is the W210 that much heavier than the W124? My E200 estate goes like the wind... Admittedly my sample for comparison isn't the greatest, but I've never had it run out of puff.

Is this thread for Steve`s only or I can post to?lol
I had the very same problem and I even sold a car that I loved to bits, because of power
The only way to get more power is to add a turbo to it,or as ^ engine swap

Wonder if Koolvin still has the turbo kit,i`ll go straight in

That`s what I though when I had mine,you should try a bigger engine :D:D

Oh I know bigger will be even better... but I've had a couple of smaller cars before with bigger engines than this, and their performance was not much better or even a bit worse. For the size of the car, the M111 2.0 does remarkably well - which is why I'm wondering about the OP's loss of power on hills.

Tell me more about this turbo kit though; would it fit in a 124 as well?

would replacing the air mass sensor help as i really want to keep the car i sold it once then brought it back again a couple of months latter as i missed it so !!!!

there has to be a problem with it.

you need to do (or get done) some checks on it.

fuel pressure may be falling for example, or injector may be failing.

take it to independent that can read the trouble codes as a first off - it may be going into limp mode under load.

Is it revving past 3000 rpm? If not, then limp mode is probably enabled. This will give you major power problems!

As was said above, get the car into a good Indie with STAR and go from there...
