i sold my sl a few months back and have been saving for a 911 but i sold a pano roof to a forum member tanuie and he rocked up in a mint obsidian black sl320,i have scrapped the 911 idea now and im on the hunt for a white or black r129 sl.
tanuie if you read this its all your fault mate:D
wish me luck:bannana:

i have a nice set of these to go on my new sl when i get it so ignore the ghastly monkars

I would personally avoid the 280, particularly if you were thinking of a 911 originally. It's underpowered for a 2-tonne (near enough) car ... 10 seconds 0-62 (when new ...).

ive had a 280sl and a 320sl and didnt feel any difference to be honest and its just a cruiser not a chuckable sports car imho,a 911 is just on the ticklist mate i was going to treat myself for my 30th birthday next year but i have to have another sl they are great motors.
i only ever really mooch about in cars.bmx and skateboarding are my main interests

Fair enough if you've owned a smaller-engined R129 before ... you know what to expect then. Hope the car you're looking at works out!

Glad you were impressed with my car - still enjoying the experience of the pano roof. Good to hear you are staying with Mercedes. Also looked at a Porsche myself but could not bring myself to part with my SL now that is complete with a pano roof - now sprayed. Just got to replace standard bulbs with Osram night breakers as headlights dire in the dark -but open to suggestions to improve headlights. I was going to add to the wood interior trim however our car is a rare chestnut wood interior and found difficult to match up and would cost a small fortune as it would have to be custom made.
Personally I would go for a 320 rather than the 280 but that's IMO -happy hunting. Be interested to see what you get.

Just to add - try to get one with a pano roof as you have sold one to me.

Ha ha

Ps they are quite expensive to buy - as you know

hey mate glad your enjoying the roof pal i have a couple to look at but im a fussy bugger ill make sure and post pics when i get it,320 is my preffered choice but if the right 280 comes up ill take that.
your interior is perfect i wouldnt change a thing, the wood trim compliments it nicely
