After 14 months of ownership I've just sold my E55K, it was a fantastic car for the most part and that engine is still one of the best I've ever experienced.
As much as I enjoyed the car it was just time to move on, so the plan now is to use the cash and a bit more I saved then arrange the rest on finance for something newer.
I have thought about a newer AMG and saw a lovely CLS with the bi turbo engine but it was still a bit costly and had lost nearly £40k in depreciation in year one:eek:.
So unfortunately I'm going to use my head a bit with my next car and go for a 997 Turbo, I don't have the AMG anymore but have got a W203 diesel as my daily driver so will still be around the forum.
Looking forward to finding the new car, it might take a while finding the right one but that's half the fun:thumb:.

Nicely done Oli, I'm sure a 997 Turbo is going to make the transition away from the 55 a lot less painful! :)

If I may be so nosey, just for my research on buying an E55, can you briefly tell me the pertinent details of your car, how quickly it sold and the selling price? Or tell me to MYOB. ;)

It's a shame you've left the fold but good luck with it!

Have a look at the old shape cls 63AMG(awesome car imho),although the new shape cls with the bi-turbo offers simular performance & better fuel economy i'm not sold on the shape at the moment....

I did think about another AMG and an RS6 too, but as I will have to get a good half of the car on finance and I will be keeping it a while an early 997 turbo even if it has done 40k seems a better bet depreciation wise, I will definatly miss the V8 noise though, not sure on the flat six sound!!.

Peter I bought mine for 14.5k and sold for 10k, in the time I had it I spent a good 3000 on new charge cooler, new air injection and the rest was brakes and Tyres, their a great car but not cheap to run!!.

Thanks for that, what year and mileage? Easy to sell or did it take ages? :)

I did have it advertised and had a few low offers, in the end I ended up selling it to a friend, it was a 53 reg and had done 70 k, their not the most easy cars to shift at the moment so you should be able to get a good deal on one especially if someone is in a hurry to sell.

There's no doubt the older shape CLS 63 is an awesome car, just if I got another AMG it would have to be a bi turbo one and their just still too new and too expensive for me, I was the same when I first saw the new CLS but think it looks great now, although it has to be in the right colour.

I'm thinking along those lines if I go for another AMG (although that is a big if) - I want the latest 5.5 biturbo or similar.

I really like the new AMGs and the tuning potential with the new engine should be pretty good too, a new CLS or E 63 will be a great buy when they get to about 3 years old.
