Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone out there has had a remap done on the new 220d engine. It’s something I might consider further down the line, just wondered what people’s experinces have been, who did the remap etc?

My car is still pretty new so I’m still well and truly in the honey moon period and I’m very impressed with the blend of power and economy from the new 220d unit - for now...

There doesn’t seem to be many people that offer a remap for this engine, is that because it’s still quite new? How would I find out what the gearbox is rated to for max torque?

Thanks chaps

I did but on a 2013 E220D, went from 170bhp to just over 200bhp. it felt a bit smoother and a bit more grunt in the top end but didn't help with changing gears quicker in comfort mode (the gearbox is way too lazy) and overall it just didn't feel 'wow, this has made a difference!'. You must understand with the weight of the car, unless you add a lot more power, 30-40bhp just won't make much noticeable difference.

If you start to feel the power is not enough, it's time for another car :D

Assume you have the OM654 engine in your E220d with 1950cc and producing 194hp and 400Nm torque. I’m pretty sure that none of the main UK-based remappers has released a Stage 1 remap for this engine yet.

But Mercedes have already released a more powerful version of this engine in the E300d currently on sale in Germany, but doubtless will make its way to UK at some stage, hopefully soon. This version develops 245hp and 500Nm torque. Reduces 0-62mph time from 7.8 sec to 6.5 sec (in the estate version).

Mercedes UK have made this engine now available in the C class, but not in thd E class.

I would think any remap of the 194hp version would have to at least match these figures.

hi all, I have just picked up a 2012 e220d cab and on the whole I'm a bit disappointed. I've gone from an Audi A5 3.0 tdi quattro to the e220d. I knew there would be a huge drop in power ( a5 was quantum red remapped to 300bhp), but I didn't realise just how bad it would be. I can guess the first few comments after posting this but the car was an e class cabriolet. Initially I was after an e350 cab, but the 220 was a really good price and it was only 2 miles away from home, so I plumped for it. Currently it has a 2.1 engine with 170 bhp, but I feel this is not enough for a fairly heavy car.
I can get another quantum red remap done at my regular Indie which will take it to about 200 bhp, normally this would be ok, but I'd like to know how sturdy this engine is. I'm not looking to go to any extremes, just enough to remove the feeling that i'm driving a slightly anaemic donkey. Some tuning boxes (yuk!) are claiming up to 220 bhp from the 2.1 but I'm concerned about engine stresses and how close this is to the limit of the engineering tolerances. I am 57 and by no means a boy racer (i failed the physical), I just want my car to feel more responsive, quicker off the mark and to know that I have some power underfoot if I should ever need it.
I was last on this site as a member in 2012 when I was driving an s class 320 petrol, similar performance would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone has tuning experience with the 220d I'd be grateful if you were able to pass on some knowledge to a failed boy racer. Cheers guys. Frankie

Has anyone stuck a tuning box onto the E220D 170bhp 125kW? I really want to give this car the boot up the Hoop that it needs, but Id like some info from tried and tested means.

Cheers

Frankie
