... we bought a '53 plate E240 Elegance Estate with 7-seat option a couple of weeks ago and I decided it was time to become (hopefully) an active contributor to the site.
The E class replaced a newer XC90 and was bought to release some cash for our house extension. We broke all the rules by buying the first one we saw and can't help feeling we've actually traded up rather than down with this purchase.
We are a family of petrolheads (although the children all being under 5 means they can't drive yet!) and have wasted more money on depreciation over the years than I care to admit even to myself.
I had a 190E in the early 90's and a C250TD estate in the early noughties so this is my third Merc, but the first that actually drives like a proper car (ducks for cover).
The plan is to see if we can actually keep a car for more than a year or so and hopefully this will be the one; apart from some dent removal and routine / precautionary service work however, we are not planning anything else.
This is the family car (and we had a new arrival on that front last week) - I drive a 60 plate smart CDI as my daily and have put over 12,000 miles on that one since November.
