My headlight must have some moisture trapped in it because it keeps fogging up. Anyone have any tips of how to sort this without remo6the headlight? It's a 2013 CLS 250 W218

Perfectly normal and actually gets a mention in the manual.

It's recommended to just run the car with the lights on which, in theory, will dispel the fogging. If it's any consolation, my current car does it as did my last two.

In warm weather I have removed the bulbs and left the bonnet open to allow the moisture to evaporate and escape. I'm not sure it'll work quite so well at this time of year but it may be worth a try.

And whilst it may resolve the immediate problem it won't address the cause.

Check to see if the headlight unit is sealed correctly. For example, is the bulb access cap correctly fitted?

It has the LED adaptive headlights, is it possible to take these bulbs out?

Please use am correct section, your car is not an AMG. You will get more replies in the correct section.

Mine steam up at first, clear shortly after which is normal.

Sorry, I'm new to the forum, wasn't aware I was in the wrong section. Good to know it's normal.

Whilst it may be common I'm not sure that it's normal.

Heat from the bulbs will cause the moisture on the inside of the lens to evaporate but when the lights are switched off again things cool down the moisture will re-condense. The moisture has to be allowed to escape from the headlight unit and there is still the question of how it is getting in.

This is quite common on Mk2 Focus STs, lots of posts on the forums I came from about it. Some people tucked a little bag of that silica gel you get in parcels into the back of the headlight unit and that seemed to fix it.

Headlights have a hole at the top and bottom to allow cool air/hot air to escape. totally normal.

WIS states misting in lamp units is normal and no reason for warranty or remedial work.

Now, if you have a puddle or water slopping about .... that's different

So it turns out I have a hairline crack in the headlight. Anyone know where I could get a second hand one that wont break the bank? New ones are in around €1600

I can't see the crack in the picture, how big is it? Could it be either Sealed or Repaired?
