I have e class w213. 2017 model. Had accident while ago required new driver side headlight which I bought brand new from ebay Halla brand. Control unit is old from previous broken light. But the light is not working at all. Not sign of life in it at all.
Jist wanted to know if I need to change the control unit as well or if it only needs reprogramming. I was told by Mercedes guy that I need new control unit which will need reprogramming as old control unit was programmed with old headlight and can't be reprogrammed with new headlight. Anybody any idea or gone through same problem? TIA.

Sounds about right. So many of the bits and pieces have to be programmed to the car or to eachother and the easiest way is via STAR at an MB dealer.

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right but I am bit concern about the price they have told me and still no guarantee as they said. Headlight is new and balast is £230 with £40 for initial reprogramming and if its unsuccessful would cost me £140 for diagnostics and per hour labour cost. Don't want to end up buying another headlight from MB dealer as they won't take any responsibility for the headlight which was bought from ebay which I totally understand.

Hmm tricky situation. A good independant could probably do it provided the have the ability to reprogramme. Some do some dont. Im sure somebody can recommend an indie in Manchester.

Start point - see if left hand side unit powers your right hand side lamp.
